Welding Plastic

I bought this of eBay to try and fix so I can sell the minty mint one on my 540. As its gonna be a drift car it doesnt have to be perfect and the chances of me smashing it again are high....... So with the wife away for the weekend I decided to get the bumper into the kitchen for some repairs. This is the 1st time I've atempted anything like this so be gentle.

How well it's gonna stand up to a 100mph delamination of a tyre (probably made by Continental) I'm not sure.

So I started with one smashinated rear bumper:

Both sides were smashed but this side was the worst as the other side was under the rubbing strip, so the repair will be hidden. I have never used fibreglass before and it seems messy so I thought I'd try this. I got a soldering iron and some cable ties along with a drill. First I stitched up the cracks with cable ties then got to the welding. Basically I was melting a cable tie into the bumper. Seems to have worked real good, the bumper is way more solid and it can support its own weight now.

The results:

Now just to add some catty and a coat of paint.
