Bleed a BMW 3.5 or 2.5

535s are horrible to bleed! This is how I do it.

  • 1. Fill as much as possible.
  • 2. Open the bleed screw on the top of the engine.
  • 3. Start car with heaters on full and keep filling.
  • 4. Let it get up to temperature.
  • 5. Make sure the water level is still good.
  • 6. Turn car off, pump both top and bottom radiator hoses like your giving CPR to your favorite hamster.
  • 7. Turn back on keep topping up the water.
  • 8. Repeat steps 6 and 7 until you have no more bubbles, even when you rev the car.
  • 9. Tighten bleed screw put cap back on and take the car for a quick drive (about 5 mins).
  • 10. Open bleed screw again to see if any more air is there. Check water level again, by this time you should have good heaters again.

This may not be the best method but it works for me and I have bleed 535s about 8 times in the last few months! Also works for 2.5's
