E30 diff swap guide.

Thought I'd write up a little guide on removing a diff.

Things you need:

Axle Stands
Jack
19mm and 17mm Spanners
19mm Socket
8mm alan key
WD40 if anythings seized

1. Jack up onto axle stands and remove rear wheels, this gives you easier access to the mounting bolts later

2. Apply handbrake, use alan key to undo driveshaft flange bolts, let off handbrake, rotate hub, repeat.



3. Put in 1st gear, use 17mm spanner to undo propshaft flange nuts, will need to rotate the prop 180 deg to get them all off.



4. Place jack under the diff to give support when undoing the 4 rear beam bolts (19mm spanner). This is easiest to do coming from the wheel arch rather than underneath hence removing wheels.



5. Remove bolt from circular bush mounting - 19mm spanner and socket easiest



6. Remove speedo cable and lower diff to floor



Reverse steps to refit.
