Ford Capri
Capri:
Good:
- Looks awesome!
- Very simple to work on, you can pretty much climb in the engine bay if you want.
- A lot of mechanical parts are shared with the Sierra and Granada so motor factors often have plenty bits in stock.
- The Pinto is a tough old engine that can take plenty abuse and be tuned to about 150BHP without too much cash.
- Contrary to popular belief, you don't have to spend daft money on a pinto. You mainly just got to use manky old crazy specced cams that crop up on ebay for not much now and again! MOT time can be hassle though!
- Lots of cool old wide rims are always available.
- Mk1/2 Escort suspension rally mods are often compatible, or not far off.
- For a 70s/80s Ford they actually don't rust that badly!
- Good big bay that will accomodate pretty much any engine! Also most Ford swaps are well documented and use a lot of standard parts.

Bad:
- Rubbish at drifting!
- Open diff or rubbish and hugely expensive LSD on the late 2.8i.
- No axle location (only held on by the leaf springs!).
- Lowering blocks required to drop the rear substantially.
- Heavy & slow steering with poor overall lock.
- Standard suspension is very soft and sloppy.
- Standard rims on anything but a 2.8i are way too skinny.
- Body panels can be rare and expensive.
- Standard pintos and V6s will never be putting out that much power on a budget, (over 150BHP for either) so for a more serious approach the likes of a YB or 24v are usually required.
